For your consideration a 1989 Gibson L4 CES with a Sunburst finish! The L4 was first introduced in 1911. Initial it was an acoustic archtop with an oval sound hole but through out the years its gone through a handful of alterations to keep up with the modern times! In the ’30s the sound hole was changed to “F” holes, in ’49 they started to produce the ES-175 which would be the blue print for for the L4 CES, it now featured a pick up and a florentine cutaway. The main difference between these two models is the ES-175 featured a laminate top and the L4 CES has a hand carved solid spruce top! The L4 CES is also much more ornate with its gold harward, fancy tailpiece and pickguard.
