Freshly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech. This venerable 1941 Gibson J-55 is in Good vintage condition with normal wear for an instrument of this age, including scratches, nicks, small scrapes, natural aging of parts and finish, plus some repairs and mods described below. There are no areas of major finish loss or serious damage.
Side cracks below the waist and at the upper bout were both glued and cleated. The cleats are stable and effective but are not as neatly professional as they might ideally be. A side crack above the treble waist was glued at some point, but is moving a bit now. There is a repair on the top at the neck join. The top has been refinished or oversprayed.
While this guitar has some repairs and mods which affect its originality, they do not affect playability or sound. This J-55 sounds really good. See below for more details and specifications. Please feel free to give us a call at the Shop for an in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have about condition.

NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:
We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage guitars as accurately as possible in our listings. Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so. We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument. Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.
We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear. If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have. Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
