Up for sale is a killer 1980 Tokai Silver Star in very good vintage condition. It has the typical playwear you’d expect of a 40+ year old guitar, including some dings and scratches but no breaks or major chips. It has that distinctive 3-tone sunburst we see on a lot of vintage guitars of the 60s and 70s. Overall, this is a nice looking guitar, and importantly, it also plays and sounds great. All original except for an added Bone nut; replaced pickguard, and replaced pickups. The original pickups are included, however, so that’s nice. Weight: 7lbs. 13oz.
Basic Specs: Nickel 70’s Fender-style tuners. 1 9/16 inch Bone nut. Maple neck with traditional Fender scale length of 25.5 inches. Slim profile with a depth of .82 inches at the first fret and .87 inches at the twelfth fret. Rosewood fingerboard with 21 frets and a 7.25 inch radius. Lindy Fralin Vintage Hot pickups have been installed. MIJ 250K pots. Vintage-style tremolo system with original whammy bar. Replaced pickguard.
Set up in-house (as are all our guitars) and playing great. If you’ve been looking for an older Tokai, you found it. Comes complete with a gig bag.
NOTE TO OUR VALUED CUSTOMERS:
We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage guitars as accurately as possible in our listings. Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so. We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument. Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.
We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear. If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have. Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
