Freshly set up in-house by our esteemed Guitar Tech, this Kevin Kopp K-185 is dialed in and playing and sounding sweet as honey.  Kevin is a well known premier luthier but we've included some biographical details below for those who may not be familiar with his work.  This K-185 is Kevin's take on the iconic Gibson J-185 which just happens to be one of our favorite Gibson models.  This guitar does justice to its inspiration and adds the usual Kevin Kopp nuances and refinements.

In Excellent condition with modest play wear, including a few light scratches, tiny dings, and other signs of having been played, but which are hardly noticeable to the naked eye.  Overall it's a nice clean instrument.  Please feel free to contact us at the shop if you'd like an in-hand description or if you have any questions we can answer regarding this lovely guitar.  It's all original with no modifications.  Brazilian fingerboard and bridge.  Torrified Spruce top.  As you'll see in the photos this instrument has a positively stunning figured maple back.  The neck and sides have plenty of flame as well.  Comes with hard shell case.  See below for more details and specifications.

Moving to Bozeman, Montana in 1992 to work for Gibson, Kevin’s talents quickly took him into the Custom Shop, where he was able to hone his skills working with luthiers such as John Walker and master luthier Ren Ferguson. Together, they created many one-of-a-kind, customized high end Gibson guitars.

After ten years of working in the Custom Shop, Kevin felt it was time to move on and explore the world of guitar building in addition to expanding his repair shop.  Seeing dozens of vintage instruments literally from the inside out, Kevin started melding some of his own ideas and experiences with the tried and true construction techniques he saw in the guitars, banjos and mandolins he was repairing.

Starting his own line of high end guitars was the natural outcome, and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Players instantly connect with the rich tone and  response of Kevin’s guitars. Internationally known guitar artist Leo Kottke owns and regularly plays two Kopp guitars.

We want you to be happy with your purchase and we try to represent the condition of all used and vintage products as accurately as possible in our listings.  Every used guitar shows some signs of play wear and vintage models even more so.  We call out all areas of damage or unusual wear, and describe the overall condition based upon what is "normal" for the age of the instrument.  Expect to see minor dings, finish checking, or other evidence of normal use and aging which may not be captured by photography or explicitly mentioned in the listing.

We recognize that everyone has their own personal standard of what constitutes acceptable wear and tear.  If play wear is especially critical for you, please contact us at the Shop for a complete in-hand description and to answer any questions you may have.  Your satisfaction is of paramount importance to us.
