Up for sale is the New MXR Wayne Kramer Jail Guitar Doors Limited Edition Overdrive pedal. This Limited Edition Overdrive will make your amp sound like a roaring pair of Marshalls!

Kick Out the Jams for Music — and Hope

Named after The Clash song written about punk rock outfit MC5 axe-man and activist Wayne Kramer, the Jail Guitar Doors Overdrive encapsulates the raucous attitude of Wayne’s wailing guitars — and sense of activism. MXR teamed up with Daredevil Pedals founder Johnny Wator to design a no-frills distortion box to get you from quiet calm to rock meltdown in an instant. Featuring a dual-stage cascading gain circuit, Sweetwater's distortion devotees are thrilled that a single Level control is all you need to crank the Jail Doors Overdrive pedal into wall-of-sound mayhem. This numbered, limited-run pedal comes with a Certificate of Authenticity, and proceeds from sales will directly benefit Jail Guitar Doors USA, a Los Angeles-based non-profit supporting youth and adults impacted by incarceration with music education and life-skills programs.

You’d be hard-pressed to find a punk or garage rocker who was not influenced by the raw tones that Wayne Kramer pitched into the guitar universe through MC5’s iconic recordings in the early 1970s. MXR teamed up with Johnny Wator of Daredevil Pedals—himself a student of Wayne Kramer’s work—to capture that gritty, groundbreaking sound in a compact, straightforward stompbox. The result is a pedal that delivers a huge rock ’n’ roll kick in the pants—just like Wayne’s music

Jail Guitar Doors USA: the loudest charity on Earth

Initially founded in the UK in 2007 by singer/songwriter/activist Billy Bragg, Jail Guitar Doors started as a catalyst toward the healing and rehabilitation of prison inmates through music. Bragg, Kramer, and his wife, Margaret, then launched Jail Guitar Doors USA, an American chapter focused on providing musical instruments and music workshops nationwide. Since its inauguration, Jail Guitar Doors USA has expanded beyond its original vision to offer opportunities to affected individuals in music education, job counseling, and paid apprenticeships, alongside a program focused on youth rehabilitation. Though Wayne Kramer passed away in 2024, Jail Guitar Doors USA continues to be a steward for correcting social and economic injustices through the healing power of music.
