Up for sale is a 1968 Fender Thinline Telecaster with a 1966 Stratocaster neck in its original natural finish. I know, I know. I know what you're thinking - "What in the actual **** happened to this guitar?" Well, let me give you a rundown. This instrument started its life as a 1969 Thinline Telecaster. At some point a 1966 Fender Stratocaster neck was installed. Then, the body was routed for full size humbuckers, and outfitted with a set of 1972 Gibson Embossed humbuckers. Wild, right? What's even more wild is that it sounds and plays amazing!
Body: What we believe is an original single coil 1968 Thinline Telecaster with original finish and original 1968 neck plate. There are some anomalies to the body such as pin router marks on the back which we do not typically seen on Thinlines from this era. The body routes and neck stamp certainly are Fender and being this was routed it only makes sense that it was original a single coil guitar. This has been poorly routed for full size humbuckers. Non original pickguard and control plate guard installed. Chopped top loader bridge replaced the original bridge. Knobs are vintage Gibson, pots are vintage. Jack plate is replaced.
Neck: Original 1966 Stratocaster neck with original finish, decal, neck date, original frets / nut and a set of Kluson double line tuners.
Pickups: Original set of embossed 1972 Gibson humbuckers.
Plastic: Pickguard and control plate are non original.
We think this guitar is absolutely wild and unlike anything you'll likely see again. Keep it as is and enjoy it or part it out and make a couple bucks. Pro setup in house and comes complete with a non original hard case. Weight: 6lbs. 3oz.
